Gerald D. Uhl, 85, of Perry, passed away, Tuesday, December 1, 2009.
He was born February 13, 1924 in Topeka, KS, the son of George and Tressie (Kratina) Uhl. He attended Silver Lake Schools.
He was employed by Goodyear Tire and Rubber, retiring in 1984. He was a member of Local No. 307 Rubber Workers Union. He was a member of the Perry United Methodist Church.
Gerald married Leona Pearl Leonard in 1945. She preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a son, Melvin Uhl. Survivors include his children, Melford Uhl of Bonner Springs, and Alden Uhl of Topeka; his sister, Juanita Kendall of Grantville; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Mr. Uhl will lie in state after 3 p.m., Thursday, December 3, 2009 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave., where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. A memorial ceremony will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, December 5, 2009 at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery.
