Gerald Blanchard Park, 92, of Lawrence, passed away Monday, Jan. 15, 2007 at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor.
He was born June 25, 1914 in Auburn, KS, the son of Floyd and Delia Park.
Gerald served with the Army Air Corps during World War II and spent time flying fuel and cargo to the Flying Tigers in China from a base in India. After the war, he worked for the Kansas Dept. of Transportation and later became the Supervisor of Signs and Markers where he served for over 40 years. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Arab Shrine and the Order of The Eastern Star.
He was married to Marie Maybell Park from 1942 until her death in 1982. He married Frances Olson Park on Dec. 24, 1999. She survives of the home. He was preceded in death by a sister, Wilma and a brother, Dale.
Other survivors include 4 step-children: Willard Olson of Paradise Valley, AZ, Willis Olson of Eudora, Douglas Olson of Westmoreland and Karen Shumate of Lawrence. He was also loved by many other step grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mr. Park will lie in state after 8:00 am, Wednesday, Jan 17, 2007 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker Price Chapel, 245 NW. Independence, Topeka. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 pm that afternoon at the Penwell-Gabel Cemetery.
