George W. Stockwell, 76, Grantville, entered into heaven on Thurs., Apr. 9, 2009, at his home with his family by his side. He was born on Dec. 10, 1932 at Wagoner, Oklahoma, the son of James F. and Minnie L. (Edwards) Stockwell.
He graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1950. He served in the Army from 1953 to 1955. He worked for Adams Business Forms and retired after 42 years. He enjoyed family, playing cards, and games.
George is survived by his wife of 53 years, Delores Arlene (Terry) Stockwell; his daughters, Debby (Melvin) Bouton and grandchildren, Beth, Nathan, and Dusty; Terri (Dave) Pearson and grandchildren, Jessie and Tana; three step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, nine step-great-grandchildren, sisters, Irene Douglas, Sadie Biggart, Della Marlow, and Lil Lazor; brother, Hiram Stockwell; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his infant son, Gregory Ward Stockwell; sister, Vinnie Bulmer and brothers, Paul, Roy (Korean War), and James Stockwell.
A Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Mon., Apr. 13, 2009, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, North Topeka. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to service at the funeral home. Private inurnment will be at a later date at the Grantville Cemetery.
