OBITUARY: George "Wayne" Peterson
George "Wayne" Peterson, 76, Osage City, formerly of Topeka, died Sun., June 24, 2012, at Stormont-Vail Hospital. Pete was born July 8, 1935, at Harveyville, the son of Joe and Ethel (Sawyer) Peterson. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1962, and had been stationed in Germany and Italy. Wayne worked for KDOT, retiring in 1996. Surviving are a sister: Betty Louise Peterson; nieces and nephews. Wayne will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Wed., at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Private interment of cremains will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Harveyville United Methodist Church, POB 217, Harveyville, KS 66431.
