George Jackson, Sr., 77, of Topeka passed away on August 21, 2018 at his home at the Topeka Presbyterian Manor. He was born on November 21, 1941 in Osage City, Kansas the son of Dewy D. and Opal Amanda Jane Nash Jackson. George married Sharon Myers, on May 29, 1967. They were married for 48 years before Sharon passed away in 2016. He worked for Seaboard-Allied Milling, later Cargill before retiring.
Survivors include his children; George D. Jackson Jr., Betsy Jackson Thompson and her husband Don, Melissa Jackson Bennett and her husband Michael; eight grandchildren, Corey Jackson (Ali), Patience Cunningham, Sara Cirilo, Cody Thompson, Rebecca Thompson, Wayne Jackson, Jason Bennett, Naomi Bennett; one great-grandson, Merrick Jackson; one sister, Linda McElheny; one nephew and two nieces. George’s family all lives in Topeka area.
Along with his wife, George was preceded in death by sisters; Amanda Jane Jackson and Erma Herrman and his parents Dewey and Opal Jackson.
George was a loving husband, father, grandfather and he will be missed by all his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at Davidson Funeral Home, 1035 N. Kansas on Monday, August 27, 2018 at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at Half-day Cemetery. He will lie in state at the funeral home from 1-5pm on Sunday where the family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.
