George W. Holler, 91, of Topeka, died, Tuesday, November 1, 2005 at Midland Hospice.
He was born November 10, 1913 in Vassar, Kansas the son of John and Bessie Raspberry Holler. George was a graduate of Highland Park High School and attended McPherson College. He had resided in Topeka since 1925.
George opened his first service station at age 17. He later owned and operated the Holler Oil Company retiring after 48 years of service.
He was a military veteran serving in the United States Navy. He was a member of the American Legion, Orient Lodge #51 AF & AM, Scottish Rite Bodies, and the Arab Shrine. George was a member of the Brethren Church over 70 years. He preached his last sermon at the North Topeka Brethren Church at age 90.
George married Amy Haldeman in 1936 at Lawrence, Kansas. She preceded him in death May 7, 2001. Survivors include, his son and daughter in law, John and Sally Holler, Topeka; three grandchildren and their spouses, George and Aline Holler, Overland Park, KS; Cammy (Holler) and Sam Houston, Wichita, KS; Johnnie (Holler) and Greg Rudolph, Hutchinson, KS; four great grandchildren, Sidney and Benjamin Holler and Garrett and Jacob Houston; and his sister, Rosa Simmons, Garden City, Kansas.
Funeral services will be held 2:00pm Friday, November 4, 2005 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue. Burial will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery. Mr. Holler will lie in state from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to Midland Hospice, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, Kansas 66606.
