George A. Garcia, age 76, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2019 in Topeka. George was born February 15, 1943 in Cleveland, Ohio the son of Henry and Marcella (Hinojosa) Garcia. He graduated from Hayden High School in 1961. George served in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee during Vietnam from 1965–1970. He married Rosallie Torrez May 13, 1967. She preceded him in death October 2, 1999. George was the first Mexican American union journeyman plumber in the area. He owned and operated Perfect’s Plumbing in Topeka as a master plumber. George was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, collecting guns and listening to Mexican music. He was preceded in death by a brother, David Leonard Garcia. He is survived by; two daughters, Debra (John Sr.) Garcia-Newman of Berryton and Lisa (Mackael) Garcia-Hubbard of Topeka; a son, Henry Garcia of Tecumseh; a sister, Carmen Garcia; two brothers, Joseph (Liz) Garcia and Robert (Robin) Garcia, all of Topeka; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and one on the way. He is also survived by his devoted caregiver, Linda Toro and many life-long friends whom he considered family.
Memorial services will be Friday, November 22, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery with military honors.
