George Everett Drescher
George Everett Drescher, 83, Topeka, died Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at Stormont-Vail Hospital. He was born November 20, 1929, at Rexford, the son of Reno Delay and Gladys Ellen (Allison) Drescher.
He worked at Forbes Air Force Base's PX (15 years), Kansas Department of Human Resources (27 years), and Kaw Valley State Bank and Trust (10 years). He had been a member of the former New Hope Baptist Church.
George was married to Marilyn Maxine Butler on January 11, 1964, in Topeka.. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Brandy Drescher, in 1985; and a brother, Charles Drescher of Texas.
Surviving are his wife: Marilyn M. Drescher of the home; a son: Alan Lee Drescher of Topeka; 2 brothers: Rodney Drescher of Grandview, Missouri, Dale Drescher, of Independence, Missouri; a sister: Alice Tilton of Topeka; and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Susan and Gary Myers of Topeka.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Monday, October 21, 2013, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, with Reverend E. Leon Parker officiating. Interment in Rochester Cemetery.
George will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Sunday, at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 PM.
