George Roy Ditch

George Roy Ditch, 88, Topeka, died Tuesday, June 8, 2004, at Topeka Presbyterian Manor. Mr. Ditch was born Nov. 3, 1915, in Whiting, the son of George R. and Lena Kobiskie Ditch. He attended church services at Topeka Presbyterian Manor. He owned and operated George Ditch Hauling for more than 60 years. Mr. Ditch married Armintha Josephine Burgess on March 21, 1936. She preceded him in death on Aug. 21, 2000. He is survived by two sons, Wayne E. Ditch, Topeka, and Keith R. Ditch, Silver Lake; four daughters, Josephine Hanvy and Beverly Howerton, both of Topeka, Betty Newbold, Pensacola, Fla., and Joyce Sipe, Kincaid; a sister, Louise Bellefeuille; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel. Burial will be in Topeka Cemetery. Mr. Ditch will lie in state after 3 p.m. today at Penwell-Gabel Parker Price Chapel in North Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to Midland Hospice Care, 200 S.W.
