OBITUARY: George Ray Brandenburgh
George Ray Brandenburgh, 73, Topeka, died Wed., Jan. 17, 2007, at Midland Hospice House. He was born in Topeka, on Dec. 6, 1933, the son of Nancy Belle (Timmons) and Oscar Fredrick Brandenburgh, Sr.
He had worked for the Union Pacific Railroad, Meadow Gold Dairy, and Kaw Area Voc-Tech School. No one was a stranger to George. He was hard working, strong, funny, and always had a joke to tell everyone. George enjoyed life to the fullest by camping, traveling, watching baseball, and going to bluegrass festivals.
Surviving are his wife, Lois Ann (Hall) Brandenburgh, of the home; children: Rhonda Bell of Topeka, Vicki Prince (Roger) of Clayton, OK, Christine Simons (Craig Riggles) of Topeka, and Dennis Brandenburgh (Pam) of Topeka; brothers: Oscar F. Brandenburgh, Jr. of Topeka, and Ted Brandenburgh of Branson, MO; sisters: Myrtle M. E. Flowers and Shirley M. Schimmel both of Topeka; grandchildren: Robbie, Stephen, Scott, Andy, Joshua, Marshall, Adrienne, Cassandra, and Brieanna; and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Anita Crumpler, and brothers: James, Donald, John, and Lloyd.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Sat., Jan. 20, 2007, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence. Interment in Rochester Cemetery. George will lie in state after 3:00 PM Fri., at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 PM.
