George Arthur Tipton
George Arthur Tipton, 75, Topeka, died peacefully on Saturday, January 10, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born August 4, 1939, at Terre Haute, Indiana, the son of Ware and Anna Tipton.
George graduated from Highland Park High School in 1957, and attended Washburn University. George attended the U.S. Air Force Academy and served in the U.S. Air Force. In 1997, he retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. George was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Topeka Scottish Rite Bodies, and Arab Shrine.
He was married to Carole Shields on June 9, 2001, in Topeka.
Surviving are his wife: Carole of the home; children: Doug Tipton (Susie) of Maynardville, TN, and Julie Tipton (Brian Weis) of Topeka; brother: Alan Tipton of Phoenix, AZ; a granddaughter: Megan Weis; and extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 17, 2015, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue. Interment in Rochester Cemetery.
George will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Friday, at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 PM.
