Genevieve A. Woodbury, 91, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, May 7, 2022.
She was born October 25, 1930, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Joseph and Sigrid (Johnson) Carter, the youngest of ten siblings. She graduated from Seaman High School in 1948.
After high school she worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield for a short time. She was a member of Seaman Congregational Church and lived most of her life in Topeka.
Genevieve was a proud wife and mother. Raising her children was her biggest accomplishment. Her home was clean, neat and organized and she took pride in not only her home, but her proudest claim to fame was having five kids in a little over six years.
There wasn't anything, Genevieve couldn't do! She like doing crafts of all sorts, from painting murals for their home, ceramics, constructing furniture for her kids' doll houses to making lap quilts for local nursing homes.
She had a sweet tooth. Whether it was the pastries she made, drinking Dr. Pepper or sipping on Black Walnut Malts from Shawnee Creamery.
If you couldn't find her in the house baking pastries, decorating cakes or making healthy snacks for her children, you could find her outside in the yard. She had a green thumb for flowers; especially iris' and roses, and thoroughly enjoyed working in the yard. When the kids were younger, they remember her building a fish pond in the back yard.
Genevieve married Hilton Ayers "Bus" Woodbury on June 4, 1949 in Topeka, Kansas, he preceded her in death on December 14, 1997. She followed her husband Bus to, Salina, Florissant, MO and Omaha, NE throughout his work adventures.
Survivors include her children, Rick (Cindy) Woodbury, Ron (Shirley) Woodbury, Debbie (Don) Henderson, Nancy (Keith) Rohwer, and Brenda (Jay) Barrett; 13 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; all of her siblings, five sisters and four brothers.
