Geneva Pauline Sorber
Geneva Pauline Sorber, 89, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2013, in Topeka. Gene was born in Topeka, February 4, 1924, daughter of Heinrich "Henry" and Myrtle Evers who have preceded her in death. Sister Anna (Evers) Pufahl and brothers Floyd and Fred Evers have also passed away.
She was married to Bert Harry Sorber December 31, 1946. He survives at home. Two children: Annette (Sorber) Jackson of Topeka and Gregory Sorber, Albuquerque, New Mexico; three grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren comprises her family.
She worked as office manager for Dr. Darryl Webber for many years prior to her retirement in 1989. She and Harry were charter members of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church where she was an active member and volunteer until the very day of her death. Her life centered on her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and her family.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, November 21, 2013, at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church. Interment will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, 3616 SW Sixth Avenue.
Gene will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Wednesday, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
Her final wishes were for memorials be made to Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 5905 SW Tenth, Topeka, KS 66604.
