Gaylord Eugene Howard Jr., 33, Topeka, died Wednesday, April 7, 2004, at a Topeka hospital. He was born April 6, 1971, in Topeka, the son of Gaylord E. Howard Sr. and Jeanie Whitmarsh Sackrider. He graduated from Topeka West High School and was a lifelong Topeka resident. Mr. Howard enjoyed riding his four-wheeler, going fishing and watching and playing basketball. He also enjoyed spending time with his kids and family. Survivors include two sons, Gaylord E. Howard III and Phillip Howard, both of Topeka; his mother and stepfather, Jeanie and Richard Sackrider, Topeka; his father, Gaylord E. Howard Sr., Topeka; two brothers, Troy Howard and Brian Howard, both of Topeka; a sister, Jamie Sackrider, Topeka; his fiancee, Melissa Serrano, Topeka; his future stepdaughter, Sabrina Serrano, Topeka; two nephews; and four nieces. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel in North Topeka. Burial will be private. Mr. Howard will li e in state after 3 p.m. today at the funeral chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 5375 S.W. 7th St., Topeka, 66606.
