Gary D. Polwort, 74, of Topeka, passed away on April 2, 2022 at his home in Topeka.
He was born on December 6, 1947 to Glen and Helen (Norman) Polwort in Enid, Oklahoma. He graduated from Enid High School. After graduation, Gary joined the United States Marine Corps in 1965. He proudly served during the Vietnam War earning the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 gold leaf clusters, Good Conduct Medal, Navy Unit Commendation Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with device, and the Rifle Marksman Badge. He served for four years before being honorably discharged.
Gary worked as a small engine mechanic for numerous businesses throughout his life. He loved to be outside any chance he could. He enjoyed to hunting, fishing, and gardening.
On July 15th, 2006, Gary married Gretchen Polwort (Meagher).
Gary is survived by his loving wife, Gretchen; children, Jennifer Polwort, Amanda Greenland, Carrie Polwort, and Micah Polwort; step-sons, Eric Myrick, Joshua (Liz) Brown, and Shea Brown; sister, Glenda (Jerry) Roberts and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents and his 3 brothers, Lannie Polwort, Robert Polwort and Bruce Polwort.
