Weary of reading obituaries noting someone's courageous battle with death, Gary L. Lane wanted it known that he died as a result of being stubborn, drinking beer, and raising hell for more than eight decades. He enjoyed booze, guns, motorcycles, fishing, camping, golf, and most of all, a fan of younger women until the day he died, April 8, 2021.
Gary adored the ladies, and they adored him. He attracted more women than a shoe sale at Macy's. He got married when he was 18, to Margaret, resulting in four children, his son Terry, and daughters Carmen, Julie, and Tracy; unfortunately, it did not last. Gary was no quitter, however, so he gave it a shot once more and married Patricia in 1963, gaining two stepchildren, Dan and Diana, in the process. This union resulted in his youngest daughter, Rebecca, cementing our “yours, mine and ours” family. Pat precedes him in death after more than five decades of marriage.
Gary was world-renowned for his lack of patience, not holding back his opinion and a knack for telling it like it is. He always told you the truth even if it was not what you wanted to hear. He was also known for his work ethic, and the principle that hard work is worthy of reward, which he promptly spent!
A ‘Celebration of Life’ will be held in lieu of a service, due to his friends not being able to attend because they decided to beat him to the Pearly Gates. His family invites anyone who remembers Gary to a celebration of his life on May 15, 2021 at Perry Lake from noon – 4:00pm at the Dedication Point Shelter on the SE side of the dam. He asks that you stop by and re-tell the stories he can no longer tell, especially those we have not already heard!
