Gary Lee Heston, 64, Topeka, died Wednesday, September 13, 2017, at Midland Hospice House. He was born February 19, 1953, in Topeka, the son of Genevieve Agnes (Hefner) and Albert Sylvester Heston, Jr.

Gary graduated from Seaman High School. He had worked at Hills Pet Products for 10 years and retired from U.S.D. # 345 after 28 years as custodian at West Indianola Grade School. He was a member of Central Park Christian Church. His hobbies were Harley-Davidson Motorcycles, classic cars, World War II aircraft/battles and modeling.

On April 14, 1973, Gary was married to Barbara Jean Grose in Topeka.

Surviving are his wife: Barbara of the home; three children: Michelle Lewis (Ron) of Topeka, Andy Heston (Meg) of Topeka, and Curtis Heston (Katie) of Murfreesboro, TN; his mother: Genevieve Heston of Topeka; four brothers: Steve Heston (Linda) of Topeka, Bob Heston (Julie) of Topeka, Bert Heston (Melani) of Topeka, and Fred Heston (Debbie) of Derby; nine grandchildren: Amy Lewis, Jacob Lewis, Aly Heston, Cortni Heston, Hunter Williams, Maddie Heston, Mya Heston, Gary Heston, and Karen Heston; and two great-grandchildren: Lexi Carter and Finn Carter.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, September 19, 2017, at Central Park Christian Church, 1535 SW Clay, Topeka. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery and Funeral Chapel, 4700 SW 17th Street, Topeka. To celebrate how Gary lived, please wear Harley-Davidson, classic car or your favorite T-shirt and jeans.

Gary will lie in state after 5:00 PM, Monday, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 PM.
