Gary Charles Chuck Miller
Gary Charles Chuck Miller, 61, Topeka, died Friday morning, Sept. 3, 2004, at his home. He was born Sept. 3, 1943, in Carthage, N.Y., to Erwin Oscar and Gladys Phyllis Waugh Miller. He served in the Army and the Air Force. Mr. Miller was a correctional officer for the state of Kansas and the Topeka Correctional Facility. He married Sharon K. Thompson on May 24, 1979, in Lawrence. She survives in Topeka. Other survivors include three daughters, Sherry Ann Mason and Angela Marie Ortega, both of Topeka, and Erica Dawn Kilgore, in Iowa; a stepson, Terry Miller, Topeka; two stepdaughters, Kris and Shirley, both of Topeka; three brothers, Thomas E. Miller, Hoosick Falls, N.Y., and Richard L. Miller and Michael A. Miller, both of Carthage, N.Y.; two sisters, Gail Houghton, Castor Land, N.Y., and Cathy Galven, in Mexico, N.Y.; and 15 grandchildren. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2004, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 N.W. Indepen dence, Topeka. Burial with military honors conducted by a Fort Riley Army Detail will be in West Lawn Memorial Gardens in Topeka. Mr. Miller will lie in state after 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 4300 S.W.
