OBITUARY: Garland G. Allen
Garland G. Allen, 77, Mayetta, died Sat., Nov. 3, 2012, at his home. He was born Aug. 4, 1935, in Topeka, the son of Lizzie and George K. Allen. They preceded him in death as well as a sister, Nina Wise.
He graduated from Highland Park High School in 1954. Garland was a truck driver for Santa Fe Trailway, Leonard Brothers, PIE, and other truck lines. He was a member of Teamsters # 696. He bowled many years at Meadow Lanes and in tournaments in Springfield and the Great Ozarks Open.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Judy; children: David, Mike, Gary (Shawna), and Doreen Frickey (Travis); a brother: Kenneth of Salmon, ID; 15 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Tues., Nov. 6, 2012, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka. Interment in Topeka Cemetery.
Garland will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Mon., at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Hoyt Fire Dist. # 3 Emergency Responders, 202 East 4th St., Hoyt, KS 66440.
