OBITUARY: Gailynn C. Godwin
Gailynn C. Godwin, 72, Topeka, died Fri., Jan. 2, 2009, at her home. She was born Sept. 1, 1936, at Plainville, the daughter of Ernest and Nola (Gilbert) Krey.
She graduated from Montezuma High School in 1954, and from Kansas State University in 1958. Gailynn was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority at K-State. She was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and Sarah Circle at Northland Christian Church. She had played tennis several times a week for the past 25 years. She had assisted her husband in his practice of optometry.
Gay was married to Robert T. Godwin on Feb. 15, 1959, at Montezuma. Dr. Godwin survives.
Other survivors include a son: Lloyd Thomas Godwin of Kansas City, MO; and 2 brothers: Dewayne Krey of Oakley and Kurt Krey of York, SC.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Tues., Jan. 6, 2009, at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. Interment in Rochester Cemetery. Gay will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Mon., at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence, Topeka. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice Care, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606-2800 or Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, 5919 NW Glenwood Dr., Topeka, KS 66617.
