Fredrick E. Massey, 82, of Topeka, passed away December 6, 2017 at his home. Fred was born on May 21, 1935 to William and Alice Massey. Fred married Delores Marie Covington on September 20, 1951 in Topeka. Fred had many jobs throughout his life but the one he was most proud of was where he worked as a truck driver for over 30 years for Yellow Freight, where he retired and was a lifelong teamster. He also served in the Army for a year with the 35 th Infantry Division.
Fredrick was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church and also worked for USD 501 as a bus driver for two years.
He is preceded in death by his wife Delores on May 2, 2001, two brothers, Robert and James Massey, two sisters, Evelyn Burgess and Patty Smith, and one great grandchild Bri’Lana Powers.
Fred is survived by his son Ron (Carol) Massey of Junction City; three daughters, Linda Smith, Deborah Massey, and Jeri Massey all of Topeka; a brother Herb (Glenda) Massey of Topeka; one sister Alice McMaster of Topeka, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Memorial service will be Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Davidson Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, starting at 10:00 a.m. Private family inurnment will follow at Rochester Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Veterans Association, and sent in the care of Davidson Funeral Home.
