OBITUARY: Freda Elizabeth Grey
Freda Elizabeth Grey, age 83, Topeka, died August 18, 2006, in Rolling Hills Health Center.
Freda was born August 16, 1923, in North Topeka, the daughter of James (Fred) Freddy Fisher and Anna Evelyn Kelly Fisher.
She attended Grant and Quincy Elementary Schools, Curtis Jr. High, Topeka High, and Seaman High School. In 1940, Freda attended Warnocks Beauty School and in the 1950's, The Clark School of Business.
Freda had worked for Seymour Packing Company and during World War II, she worked for Morrell Packing Co. and the Supply Depot as a "Lift Operator." In the early 1950's she worked for Hollywood and Maxwell Garment Factory and Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. from 1955 to 1965.
She married Victor Alfred Grey on August 16, 1942, in Topeka, Kansas. They were married over 52 years. He preceded her in death on December 30, 1994. She was also preceded in death by her brother, John (Bud) Fred Fisher on August 8, 2004.
Survivors include a daughter, Virginia Lewis, and her husband, Ronald, of Berryton; a grandson, Jeff Lewis, and his wife, Michele, of Topeka; and two great-grandchildren, Christopher Lewis and Courtney Lewis, of Topeka.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m., Monday, August 21, 2006, at Rochester Cemetery. Freda will lie in state after 4:00 p.m., Sunday, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 N.W. Independence, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
