Fred F. Stone, 88, of Topeka, Kansas, formerly of Bartlesville, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2006 in Topeka, Kansas.
He was born June 16, 1917 in Julesberg, Colorado, the son of William L. and Bess Leah Shephard Stone. Fred served as a Sergeant in the US Army Air Corps during WWII and in the US Army in Korea. He married Betty Ann Harding June 18, 1947 in Lyndon, Kansas. She preceded him in death February 6, 1992. He was also preceded in death by his brother Robert (Bob) Stone. Mr. Stone worked as a senior marketing executive for Phillips Petroleum Company for 38 years until his retirement in 1980. He was an avid golfer and continued to play regularly until just a few weeks before his death.
Survivors include two daughters, Terra McCluskey, Stillwater, Oklahoma;Sharon Vaillancourt, Silver Lake, Kansas; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Graveside services, conducted by Golden Rule Lodge #90, AF & AM, will be Monday, January 30, 2006, 1:00 p.m., at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Topeka, Kansas. Mr. Stone will lie in state after 12:00 noon on Sunday, January 29, 2006 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker Price Chapel. The family will greet friends from 2-4 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the chapel.
