Francis A. Perkins
Francis A. Perkins 94, formerly of Topeka, passed away at his home in Silver City, N.M., Wednesday, May 5, 2004. Mr. Perkins was born March 8, 1910, in Webster. He was the son of Melvin Allen and Musetta Dennis Perkins. He married Rosalie Fultz on June 28, 1941, in Richland. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Rosalie Perkins; two sons, Marion Allen Perkins, of Simi Valley, Calif., and David Glenn Perkins, of Silver City; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and five nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Claude Perkins; and two sisters, Grace Nonekin and Musetta Thuma. Mr. Perkins attended Highland Junior College in Highland and received a bachelors of arts degree from Kansas Wesleyan College in Salina He also attended Bonebrake Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio, and his post graduate at Ottawa University, where he received his teacher's certificate. Mr. Perkins was crew chief for Cessna; he worked with Department of Public Ass istance in Raymond, Wash.; North American Aviation in Canoga Park, Calif.; he was Atomic Reactor Assembler for Atomic International of Canoga, Calif.; and Rocketdyne, also of Canoga, Calif. Mr. Perkins was a member of United Auto Workers Union and Fairlawn Heights Wesleyan Church. He attended Calvary Chapel in Silver City, N.M. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Fairlawn Heights Wesleyan Church. Mr. Perkins will lie in state after 3 p.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel in North Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Interment will be in Penwell-Gabel's Memorial Park Cemetery.
