Frances "Irene" Jenkins, 80, Topeka, passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2006 at St. Francis Hospital.
Irene was born January 13, 1926 in Peabody, the daughter of Jesse Allen and Mary Jane (Branson) Britton.
She was employed by Josten's American Yearbook, retiring in 1984.
She was a member of the Shooting Stars Square Dance Club.
Irene married Loyd H. Jenkins on July 21, 1945 in Topeka. He survives. Other survivors include a son; Bill Jenkins; daughter, Gladys Holmes and husband, Bob, all of Topeka; 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; a sister, Doris Pletcher, Eskridge; and a brother, Richard Wayne Britton, Gossel. She was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters, and a grandson, Lance Allen Jenkins.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 14, 2006 at Penwell-Gabel Parker Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence. Mrs. Jenkins will lie in state at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m. today and visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel cemetery.
