Flossie Louise Chitwood
Flossie Louise Chitwood, 86, Topeka, died Sunday, October 29, 2017, at Midland Hospice House. She was born November 29, 1930, in Manhattan, the daughter of Clarence Willard and Mildred Sylvia (Dugan) Persyn.
She had lived in Oklahoma, Maryland, California and Manhattan before returning to Topeka. She was a member of the Auxiliary to Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie # 4319, and the auxiliary to Capitol Post # 1, of the American Legion.
Flossie was married to Merle Eugene Chitwood on September 28, 1956, in Cushing, OK. He preceded her in death on May 30, 2013.
Surviving are a daughter: Joyce Pagona Chitwood of Topeka; a son: James Mowbray; a brother: Merrill Persyn of Florida; and two grandsons.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Thursday, November 2, 2017, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka. Interment will be in Topeka Cemetery, 1601 SE Tenth Street, Topeka.
Flossie will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Wednesday at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 PM.
