Florence Lorraine Taylor, 93, of Topeka, passed away Friday, June 17, 2016.
Florence was born November 30, 1922 to Robert L. and Stella Angeline (Hatcher) Baker. She married Frank T. Taylor Jr. September 7, 1943. They celebrated 59 years together.
She is survived by her daughters, Judy Taylor and Barbara (David) Rake, both of Topeka.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Oren Baker and six sisters, Elsie Reedus, Inez Genetzski, Jenny Potter, Ruth Dick, Lucille Mauck and Marge Harrison.
She was a graduate of Topeka High School and worked for Seymour's grocery, then later for the Division of the Blind at the Topeka County Court House.
Florence was an active Brownie and Scout leader for both her daughters. She also served as Past Matron of Helena Chapter No. 210 and Clarice Chapter 390 Wakarusa. She was Past Royal Matron of Capitol Court order of the Amaranth, Past Lady Superior of Ancient Toltec Rite, Past Worthy High Priestess of Trinity Shrine, Past Bethel Guardian of Bethel No.58 International Order of Jobs Daughters and Pythian Sisters.
She was a member of the Salvation Army Church.
A celebration of life service followed by an Eastern Star service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka.
Florence will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
