Florence Bellman "Marie" Hendrix
ROSSVILLE - Florence "Marie" Bellman Hendrix, 86, St. Joseph, Mo., died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004, at a St. Joseph nursing home. She was born May 19, 1917, at Silver Lake, the daughter of Edgar C. and Nettie E. George Bellman. She spent her early life in the Silver Lake area where she graduated from High School. She worked for the federal government at the Supply Depot at Forbes Air Force Base at Topeka during World War II. She later worked as a hospital attendant at Missouri State Hospital in St. Joseph, Mo., until her retirement in 1980. She and her family had lived in the communities of Alta Vista and Willard in Kansas and Maysville in Missouri. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Maysville, Mo. She married John "Verle" Marney in 1946, in Topeka. He died Dec. 6, 1966. She later married James Hendrix in St. Joseph, Mo. He died in 1985. She also was preceded in death by nine brothers and four sisters. Survivors include three sons, Delmar E. Moore, Topeka, George D. Marney, St. Joseph, Mo., and Dwayne Fannin, Running Springs, Calif.; a daughter, Dolores J. Moore, Chillicothe, Mo.; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Graveside services and burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Rossville Cemetery in Rossville. Mrs. Hendrix will lie in state after 3 p.m. today at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Silver Lake, P.O.
