OBITUARY: Florence E. Jennings
Florence E. Jennings, 94, of Topeka, formerly of Silver Lake, died Sun., Sept. 17, 2006, at Aldersgate Village. She was born July 21, 1912, at Topeka, the daughter of Charles Howard and Florence Blanche (Rhodes) Maus. Florence graduated from Auburn High School in 1930, and had lived at Silver Lake for 40 years before moving to Aldersage Village in July, 1990.
Florence was a homemaker and daycare provider. She was a member of the Silver Lake United Methodist Church; Silver Lake United Methodist Women; and Loyal Chapter # 176, O.E.S. She was a 4-H Leader and volunteer at Stormont-Vail Hospital for many years.
Florence was married to Thomas "Lee" Jennings on Sept. 13, 1934, at Topeka. He preceded her in death on Sept. 24, 2004. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Emma Hoppe; and a brother, Fred E. Maus.
Surviving are 3 daughters: Mary Lee Rosen of Sun Lakes, AZ, Janie Kay Gowin of Silver Lake, and Lu Dell Smith of Topeka; a sister: Laurel "Fern" Fadke of Murray, NE; 8 Grandchildren; 4 Step- Grandchildren; 19 Great-Grandchildren with another expected in Nov.; 7 Step-Great-Grandchildren; and 2 Great-Great-Grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m., Thurs., Sept. 21, 2006, at Silver Lake United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Wed. at Aldersgate Village's Wesley Hall.
