OBITUARY: Mrs. Faye C. Skinner
Mrs. Faye Caroline Skinner, 87, Topeka, died Sun., Jan. 20, 2008, at Midland Hospice House. She was a long-time North Topeka resident before moving to Brewster Place in 1986. She was born July 1, 1920, at Topeka, the daughter of Herbert F. and Bertha M. (Ramsey) Ulrich.
Faye was a member of Seaman Congregational United Church of Christ. Faye loved sports in general and as a girl played softball for the Ed Marling's team at Chesney Park. The team made it to the Nationals in Chicago twice. She was a graduate of Topeka High School and Strickler's Business College, and had been a legal secretary.
She was married to Ralph M. Skinner on Oct. 19, 1940, in Topeka. He preceded her in death on June 19, 1985. She was also preceded in death by an infant son, Stephen Skinner.
Surviving are a son: Jack Skinner of Topeka; 2 daughters: Nancy Means and Carolyn Black both of Topeka; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be private. Faye will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence, from 3:00 to 8:30 PM, Wed., Jan. 23, 2008. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:00 PM, Wed., at the funeral chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1315 SW Arrowhead Road, Topeka, KS 66604.
