OBITUARY: Everett Eugene "Gene" Hoffman
Everett Eugene "Gene" Hoffman, 73, Lecompton, died Mon., Feb. 6, 2006, at his sister's Topeka residence. He was born Aug. 23, 1932, at Topeka the son of George Edward and Ruth Edna (Foster) Hoffman.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from Sept. 5, 1952, to Sept. 4, 1956. He was a carpenter and then worked for the City of Topeka Street Dept. from 1966 to 1993.
Gene was married to Wanda on Dec. 7, 1965, at Topeka. She preceded him in death on Nov. 5, 1995. He was also preceded in death by 2 children: Angela Boomer and Eugene Hoffman.
Surviving are 3 daughters: Edna J. Anderson of Scranton, Carol Hoffman of Garnett, and Carolyn Ortiz of Topeka; 2 sons: Edward J. Hoffman of Port Angeles, WA and Michael Weatherford of Texas; a sister: Sue Ann Pliler of Topeka; 15 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, Feb. 10, 2006 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence. A Fort Riley U.S. Army Detail will conduct military honors at Penwell-Gabel's Memorial Park Cemetery.
Gene will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. Thurs. at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.
