Evelyn G. May, 75, Topeka, passed away at her home September 1, 2012. Evelyn was born August 16, 1937 in Fayette, MO the daughter of James and Lillian (Cleek) Robb. Evelyn graduated Buck Creek elementary school through the 8th grade, received her GED then entered nursing school receiving her Nursing degree to become a registered nurse from St. Mary's of the Plains, Dodge City, KS.

Evelyn was a member of First Assembly of God in Topeka where she was active with her Sunday school class and provided charitable contributions to her church. She was the nurse at Royal Kids Camp for several years.

Evelyn married Richard May February 27, 1951 in Oskaloosa, KS. Evelyn was the proud mother of 5 children; She was preceded in death by a son, Mark R. May; Surviving children include M. Randall May, Topeka, Mickey L. May (Debi), Topeka, L. Joan (May) Hunt (Lewie), Osage Beach, MO, Russell D. May (Laurie), Topeka.

Evelyn adored her grandchildren; Misti, Holly, Heath, Sarah, Melissa, Joseph, Lee, Dalton and Shane. She encouraged them to reach for the stars. She also had 8 great grandchildren who knew her as GG; Tristan, Makya, Bailee, Evelyn, Samuel, Uriah, Ariane, Asher.

A funeral ceremony will be at 10:00am, Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at the First Assembly of God Church, 500 SW 27th St., Topeka. Interment will follow at the Prairie Home Cemetery, Topeka. Evelyn will lay in state after 3:00pm, Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 7-8pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Republican National Committee, PO Box 96994, Washington DC 20077-7556.
