Evan F. Hoge

July 20, 1989 — October 31, 2022

Evan F. Hoge, 33, Topeka, died unexpectedly, Monday, October 31, 2022.  Those closest to him always hoped to see him embrace sobriety but ultimately, he lost the battle with depression and drug addiction.

Evan was born in Topeka, Kansas, July 20, 1989 to Kenneth and Susan (Humphries) Hoge.  He graduated from Shawnee Heights High School in 2008.

Evan is survived by his parents in Tecumseh; his brother, Justin (Melissa) of Topeka; sister, Lauren (Michael Keller) of Topeka; grandmother, Corinne Grizzard of St. Charles, MO; aunts, uncles, cousins and many nieces and nephews that loved him very much.  He leaves behind Mr. Cat, a cat he inherited after the passing of his fraternal grandparents, Frank and Delores (Phillips) Hoge.  He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Jack Humphries of Holton.

His beloved dog, Dooley, crossed the Rainbow Bridge in 2019 and we are sure that he is tugging on the leash as Evan takes him for a long-awaited walk.

Evan loved his family, studying family genealogy, world history, reading (he would walk from his house to the Shawnee County Public Library when he could no longer drive due to an injury in 2021), all animals, REAL Mexican food and helping his neighbors with projects and chores.  He was always willing to lend a hand.

His greatest passion was playing drums and “jamming” with friends.  That was when he was the happiest!  He was learning how to set up, manage and mix live music in hopes of working at local music events.

A private family service will be Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home.  The services can be viewed live online. Please copy the following link: https://view.oneroomstreaming.com/index.php?data=MTY2ODAzMjk4MjIxODIzNiZvbmVyb29tLWFkbWluJmNvcHlfbGluaw==

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Helping Hands Humane Society in his name.  Evan worked there as an admissions counselor previously and loved working with the animals.

The family requests that everyone will sign the online guestbook and share some memories of Evan.  Those memories help us remember him as the happy person he once was.   Evan was loved and will be deeply missed.
