OBITUARY: Eunice Mae Barr Ruse



Mrs. Eunice Mae Barr Ruse, 85, Topeka, passed away Oct. 13, 2007. Eunice was born March 20, 1922, at Westmoreland, the daughter of Mary and Ernest Krouse.

Eunice married Deane W. Barr in 1945, and he preceded her in death in Sept. 1965. She married Raymond R. Ruse in 1974, and he preceded her in death in Feb., 1998. She is survived by her 3 children: Patricia A. Lee of Topeka, Robert D. Barr and wife, Kristi, of Houston, TX, and Randall C. Barr and wife, Teresa, of Topeka; 3 grandchildren: Amanda K. Soltys of Crown Point, IN, Patrick Barr of Pensacola, FL, and Jessica Barr of Topeka; and 4 great-grandchildren: Tanner, Tucker, and Delilah Soltys and Cooper Barr. Eunice was the oldest of ten children and is survived by Raymond Krouse, Betty Berens, Gilbert Krouse, Donald Krouse, Minnie Bradshaw, Dale Krouse, Oscar Krouse, and Richard Krouse. She was preceded in death by one sister, Agnes Whitworth.

Eunice was a World War II veteran having served in the U.S. Marine Corps' Women's Division. She was a 20 year retiree of Blue Cross-Blue Shield. She was an avid golfer and belonged to the Kansas Golf Association; Lake Shawnee Golf Club; and Forbes Golf Club. Eunice was a member of the National Association for Family and Community Education.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Thurs., Oct. 18, 2007, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence, Topeka. Interment in Westmoreland Cemetery. Eunice will lie in state after 5:00 PM, Wednesday, at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 PM.
