Ethel Mildred Drane Mason, 95, Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2007.
Ethel was born May 20, 1912 in Topeka, the daughter of James L. and Martha A. (Wagg) Drane. She grew up in the Oakland community.
She worked as a Nurses Aide in Nursing Homes in Costa Mesa, California for 27 years, before returning to Topeka in 1990.
Ethel married Joseph Jean Mason on October 6, 1945 in Yuma, Arizona. He died August 27, 1992.
Survivors include a brother; Charles "Tom" (Delores) Drane, Dallas, TX; nephews, Ralph Martin, Olathe, Don (Sharrell) Drane, Topeka, Bob Drane, Topeka, Greg (Valerie) Drane, Dallas, TX, Mike (Sheryl) Drane, Topeka; nieces, Donna (Garry) Stadel, Olathe, Martha (Tom) Shaver, Overland Park; and several great and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Oscar, Robert and Raymond Drane; and a sister, Marie Martin.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, November 23, 2007 at Mount Hope Cemetery. Burial will follow in the cemetery. Ethel will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel after 3:00 p.m. Thursday.
