Ernest D. Billbe

Ernest Dean Billbe, 84, Carbondale, KS, passed away June 26, 2012, after a brief battle with cancer. He was born January 26, 1928, in Winfield, the son of John Wallace and Geneva Yeager Billbe. He attended school at Quitman, MO. He served in the Army from 1950 to 1955, spending time in Korea. He was married to Charlotte Colwell. They divorced. On June 27, 1953, he married Virginia Wallace at Bedford, IA.

Survivors include son, Dennis Billbe of Topeka; daughter, Vicki (Vern) Yoho of Hartford, KS; sister, Mary McCullah of Carbondale; one grandson; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia; infant son, Larry Gene; twin brother, Everett Dee; and brothers Wallace Ray and Robert Leroy.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 29, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence, Topeka, KS 66608, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Colmery-O'Neil VA Medical Hospital c/o Building #6, 2200 SW Gage Blvd., Topeka, KS 66614.
