Encile E. Souders, Jr.

Encile “Buddy” Ed Souders, Jr., 83, of Topeka passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loved ones.   He was born January 11, 1938 in Flat Rock, Michigan the son of Encile E. Souders and Lucille Hartrick Souders.   Encile was raised in Flat Rock.   He later served his country in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958.  Encile worked as a cook at a small café in Flat Rock and met his future wife Barbara, who was a waitress there.  They were married a short time later, on September 28, 1964 in Flat Rock and were married for 42 years before her passing in 2007.  Encile moved to Topeka in 1973.  He was a self-employed carpenter by trade.  He loved to bowl, hunt and fish.  He was twice the City of Topeka bowling champion.   He bowled at Gage North Bowling Alley.

Survivors include his children, Debbie Eggert, Edward Souders, Cheryl Arno, Edward "Eddie" Lee Souders, Jeff Souders, Carol Knernschield, and stepchildren Betty Hansford, Barbara Jean Partee, Sharon Byers, Mary Lou Gibson Baines; many, many grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive.   He is also survived by his two faithful companions, his dogs, Buddy and Tootsie.

Encile was preceded in death by a stepson, Benjamin Stewart, and two siblings, Judy Cox and Larry Cox.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 20 th at Davidson Funeral Home.  Services will be live-streamed at the Davidson Funeral Home & Cremation Services Facebook page.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 7:00-8:00 p.m.   Memorial contributions may be made to the Helping Hands Humane Society.  To leave the family a message, please visit www.davidsonfuneral.com .
