Elta Ferne Doty Bausch passed away of August 10, 2004.
She currently resided at the Lexington Park Acute Care facility in Topeka.
She was born on September 21, 1918, to Goldie Pearle White Doty and William Wilson Doty of Yates Center, Kansas. In 1926 the family moved to Hoyt, where she entered the Hoyt school system, graduating from Hoyt High School in 1938. She worked in the Topeka area in both Security Benefit Association (SSA) and at the Kansas Income Tax Center until moving to Leavenworth, Kansas in 1955. While in Leavenworth she worked for the United States Army at the paymaster office at Fort Leavenworth.
On July 20, 1967, she was joined to Frederick Aaron Bausch in holy matrimony at the First Methodist Church of Leavenworth. The couple took up residence in the Hoyt area until Fred preceded her death. She then returned to Topeka.
She was active in church activities wherever she lived. She was a member of the Hoyt Methodist Church, the First Methodist Church of Leavenworth, the Hoyt Baptist Church, the Gage Park Baptist Church. She and her husband. Frederick, co-chaired the Senior Organized Citizens of Kansas (SOCK) until such time as Mr. Bausch was unable to continue due to health reasons.
"Aunt Ferne" is survived by a loving family including a sister and brother-in-law, Helen L. Speaker and Leonard R. Speaker; nieces and nephews: Linda Ferne Speaker Rosito and her husband. Mario Rosito; Randy Lee Speaker and his wife Colleen Speaker; (great nieces and nephews) Marco V. Rosito, wife Mindy and their daughter Clara; Monica Rosito Anderson, her husband Jeffrey Anderson and their two children, Samantha and Austin; Mario E. Rosito and his daughter, Brianna; Shannon Speaker; LeighAnna Kruger; Trent Speaker; Jarrod Kruger; Triston Speaker.
The family invites all who knew and loved Ferne to join with them in rejoicing her release to a better life. Funeral arrangements have been made through the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel in North Topeka for 10:00 A.M. on August 18, 2004. Burial will be held at the Hoyt Cemetery, following the service.
Ferne will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Tuesday, Aug 17 where the family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:30 PM at the funeral chapel.
