OBITUARY: Mrs. Elsie Louise Doyle
Our loving mother, Elsie Louise Doyle, went home to be with her heavenly father on Nov. 30, 2007. Elsie was born Dec. 30, 1912, to John & Helga Carlson at McPherson. She attended McPherson schools where she graduated from high school.
Elsie married Fred F. Doyle on Dec. 22, 1936, in McPherson. After their marriage they moved back to Topeka to help run a dairy farm with Fred's parents, Perry & Laura Doyle. Elsie & Fred also helped run "Doyle's Den" hamburger shop in North Topeka that was owned by the Doyle's. Elsie gave birth to her first child, Karen, in 1939; in 1940; she gave birth to Sandra Sue; in 1941, Patricia Kay; and in 1945, William D. Doyle. Elsie & her husband, Fred, owned and ran a dairy farm north of Topeka, for over 28 years. During that period Elsie went to work for Blue Cross-Blue Shield and then for Fleming Foods as an executive advertising secretary for 20 years until her retirement in 1978.
Elsie was a life-long member of the Rochester Church of the Brethren where she was pianist and organist for over 30 years. She and her husband, Fred, along with their children, Sandra, Patty & Bill were very active in the church and also enjoyed providing many years of music. Elsie had an exceptional talent not only musically, but also was an expert seamstress. She made all her children's clothes up until high school years. Elsie was a devoted Christian and prayer warrior. She provided a life-time of devotion, love and caring to her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred, in 1989; daughter, Karen, in 1939; and grandson, Bryan W. Doyle, in 1989.
Elsie is survived by a son: William (Bill) Doyle of Topeka; 2 daughters: Sandra Streeter of Topeka and Patricia & Charles Wech of Topeka; 7 grandchildren: Tracy Greenamyer of San Diego, CA, Kim & Paul Masek of NE, Kristi & Rex Moore of NE, Kelly & Sandy Streeter of NE, Michael & Lori Wech of MO, Christopher & Rinda Wech of Topeka, and Sheri & Larry Gonzales of Topeka; 2 sisters: June Buttonhoff of Sylvan Grove and Edith Fletcher of McPherson; a brother: Leland & Doris Carlson of McPherson; 16 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Celebration of life will be at 10:00 AM, Tues., Dec. 4, 2007, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence, Topeka. Interment in Prairie Home Cemetery. Elsie will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Monday, at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 PM.
