Elmer Willard Jackson, 94, of Topeka, passed away Friday, December 20, 2013.
He was born September 27, 1919, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Howard Taylor and Nettie (Stover) Jackson. He was a 1937 graduate of Seaman High School. He was stationed in the Philippines serving in the U.S. Army during WW II.
Mr. Jackson farmed in the North Topeka area and was a real estate agent / broker in Topeka where he owned and operated the Kaw Valley Agency and later started North Plaza Reality retiring in 1979.
Mr. Jackson was a member of Golden Rule Lodge No. 90, A.F. & A.M., and American Legion Post No. 400 of North Topeka.
Elmer married Wilma Helen Wohler on September 7, 1946 in Barnes, Kansas. She preceded him in death on July 5, 1984. Survivors include three children, Linda (Walter) Thompson, Fenton, MO, Beth (John) Hartshorn, Pueblo West, CO and Howard (Sue) Jackson, Topeka; five grandchildren, Tyson Hartshorn, Kara Thompson, Cody Hartshorn, Casey Jackson and Britt Gomer; 19 great-grandchildren; and three siblings, Elizabeth Wooster-Petrik, Topeka, Wes (Joan) Jackson, Salina, KS and Harley Jackson, Grand Junction, CO.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three grandchildren, Kelly Jackson, Raja Thompson and Eric Thompson; two great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Margaret Glasgow and Dwight Jackson.
The family would like to recognize the PACE program and Midland Hospice for their exceptional care in his later years.
Mr. Jackson was cremated. A memorial service will be 2 p.m., Friday, January 3, 2014 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, KS 66608. Private family interment will be at the Grantville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Midland Care, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606.
