Elmer J. Eckhoff, 79, Topeka, passed away Sunday, November 18, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born December 8, 1938, in Saint Louis, Missouri, the son of Elmer and Viola (Suedkamp) Eckhoff. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving during the Vietnam War.
Elmer worked in production at GoodYear Tire & Rubber Company, he was a production/supervisor at Armco Steel and a maintenance technician at Frito Lay where he retired in 2002.
He was a member of Mayetta Lodge #393 AF&AM, where he served as past Grandmaster and the Order of the Eastern Star Mayetta Chapter #383, where he served as past Patron.
Elmer married Frances M. Dreasher on November 5, 1961 in Topeka, she survives. Other survivors include two children: Michell (Rod) Flowers, John (Sonya) Eckhoff; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Shirley Govero and Bernice Lamb and two grandchildren, Dustin and Sydnie Eckhoff.
Elmer enjoyed the outdoors with hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed golfing and participating in bowling. He loved to sing at parties, his favorite song, Kansas City.
Funeral services with military and masonic honors will be 10 am, Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Parker-Price Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka. Private interment will be at Rochester Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 pm Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children, 440 Clayton Ave, St. Louis, MO 63110.
