Elmer Charles Hutton
Elmer Charles Hutton, 85, Topeka, passed peacefully Sunday, December 14, 2014, at the home of his daughter, Shelly. He was born September 27, 1929, in Topeka, the son of Archie Reed and Velma Leoti (Hinds) Hutton.
He graduated from Topeka High School. He coached Ken Berry Little League Baseball.
Elmer served as a U.S. Army Medic in the Korean Conflict. He was employed by Frito-Lay and U.S.D. 501. Elmer was a member of Central Park Christian Church; and a member and past-president of Wheathearts Squares. He was a former member of Golden Rule Lodge # 90, A.F. & A.M.
He was married to Donna Jean Bartholomew on February 4, 1951, in Topeka. She preceded him in death on April 18, 1989.
Surviving are two daughters: Sandy Allen (Rick) of Centralia and Shelly Brush (Ron) of Topeka; four sons: Brad Hutton (Linda Mason) of Topeka, Bryan Hutton (Marjorie "Sugie" Wilson) of Valley Falls, Brent Hutton (Melissa) of Topeka, and Barry Hutton (Janet) of Topeka; two sisters: Barbara Cormack (Tom) of Topeka and Mary Sawyer (Bo) of San Antonio, TX; fourteen grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his father on October 20, 2000; his mother on December 23, 2000; and a brother, Vernon LeRoy Hutton on January 12, 1974.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, December 19, 2014, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka. A Fort Riley U.S. Army Detail will conduct military honors at Rochester Cemetery, 1200 NW Menninger Road, Topeka.
Elmer will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Thursday, at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:00 PM.
