Ellis E. McDougal, 100, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Clyde, Kansas.
He was born September 14, 1913 in Wakarusa, Kansas, the son of Edward Siler and Emma (Nichols) McDougal. He was a graduate of Carbondale High School
He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II.
Mr. McDougal was employed by Santa Fe Railway Shops in Topeka for 45 years before retiring.
He was a member of Seaman Congregational Church, Wakarusa Masonic Lodge and Clarice Chapter No 390 of the Order of Eastern Star.
Ellis married Laura Lynn Land on November 19, 1934 in Oskaloosa, KS. She preceded him in death on October 25, 2002. Survivors include his son, David E. (Barbara) McDougal, Belton, MO; two daughters, Bonnie (Scott) Olsen, Clyde, KS and Jean Ramsey, Prairie Village, KS; six grandchildren, Heather (John) Sooley, Heidi (Mark) Rater, Doug Olsen, Martha (Doug) Mann, Brandon (Jennifer) Ramsey and Andrew Ramsey; and 11 great-grandchildren, Richie Sooley, Davey Sooley, Elizabeth Rater, Laura Rater, Mark D. Rater, Delaney Olsen, Dylan Olsen, Madeline Mann and Drake Mann, Jacoby Balmer, Lorelei Balmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Holly McDougal.
A funeral ceremony and masonic services will be 1 p.m., Thursday, November 14, 2013 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka. Private family interment will follow at the Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, Topeka. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service on Thursday. Ellis will lie in state from 3 to 7 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Topeka Rescue Mission, 600 N. Kansas Ave, Topeka, KS 66608.
