OBITUARY: Mrs. Elizabeth Jane "Betty" Young
Mrs. Elizabeth Jane "Betty" Young, 89, Topeka, KS, died Tues., April 25, 2006, at Topeka Presbyterian Manor. She was born Jan. 5, 1917, at Tollesboro, KY, the daughter of Edwin D. and Isa Lena (Walker) Singleton.
Mrs. Young had worked for 25 years as a waitress and cook. She was a former member of the War Dads and Eagles' Lodge Auxiliary.
She was married to Warren R. Young on June 5, 1967 at Lincoln, NE. He preceded her in death on Dec. 25, 1980.
Surviving are 2 daughters and sons-in-law: Ronna and Richard Sears of Ozawkie, KS, and Regina and Robert Jones of Frankfort, KS; 2 sons and daughters-in-law: Don and Helen Weiss of Topeka, KS and Gary and Elizabeth Doughty of Omaha, NE; a sister: Norma Bowen of Manchester, OH; 2 brothers: Ed Singleton of Blairsville, GA and Don Singleton of Batavia, OH; 16 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 5:00 p.m., Fri., April 28, 2006, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 N.W. Independence, Topeka. Mrs. Young will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Brell & Sons Funeral Home, Maysville, KY. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Green Acres Cemetery, Maysville, KY.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1315 S.W. Arrowhead Road, Topeka, KS 66604; The Topeka Presbyterian Manor, 4712 S.W. Sixth, Topeka, KS 66606; or the Hospice of the donor's choice.
