Betty Knox
Elizabeth C. "Betty" Knox, 79, Topeka, died Tuesday, April 29, 2003, at a Topeka hospital.
Mrs. Knox worked at B.B. Meiers and McDonnells Bar and Grill on S.W. 6th for more than 20 years. She also worked in the cafeteria at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center for 11 years before retiring in 1989.
She was born Feb. 23, 1924, in Topeka, to Mickey Dugan and Mary Blossom Elizabeth Fry Long. She lived most of her life in Topeka.
Mrs. Knox was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She married William J. Knox on Aug. 4, 1944, in Topeka. He died Dec. 10, 1986. Mrs. Knox also was preceded in death by two daughters, Barbara E. Knox, on Feb. 17, 1953, and Beverly L. Odom, on Feb. 27, 2003, and a grandson, Andrew William Knox, on May 10, 1996.
Survivors include three sons, William S. Knox, Thomas J. Knox and John B. Knox, all of Topeka; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Knox will lie in state after 3 p.m. today at Parker-Price Mortuary, where visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m.
