OBITUARY: Eliene Rose Stadel Starr



Mrs. Eliene Rose Stadel Starr, 87, Topeka, died Sat. evening, Dec. 22, 2007 at Midland Hospice House. She was born Feb. 21, 1920, at Topeka, the daughter of Arthur and Rose Stenger. She and her husband, DuWane Stadel, farmed at Hoyt for over 35 years.

Eliene had been a beauty operator and was a seamstress before retiring. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Hoyt and Topeka, and Women of the Moose.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer E. Starr. Surviving are 3 sons and 2 daughters-in-law: Garry and Donna Stadel of Olathe, Darrel and Debra Stadel of Wickenburg, AZ, and Rodney Stadel of Hoyt; a sister: LeArta Boettcher of Maranna, AZ; 8 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Fri., Dec. 28, 2007, at Mount Hope Cemetery, 4700 SW 17th, Topeka. Eliene will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Thursday, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence, Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 3033 SW MacVicar, Topeka, KS 66611.
