OBITUARY: Elba Helen Sheldon
Elba Helen Sheldon, 82, Topeka, died Tues., July 24, 2007, at Midland Hospice House. She was born Jan. 10, 1925, at Princeton, the daughter of Frank Leslie and Thelma Hester (Graves) Herring.
She was married to Merrill Duane Sheldon on Dec. 3, 1969, at Lawrence. Elba was a military wife as Merrill spent 20 years in the U.S. Air Force and 8 years with the White House Communications Agency.
Surviving are her husband: Merrill Sheldon of the home; a daughter: Elba L. Berwert of Topeka; a son: Lester "Dale" Shirah of Topeka; 4 sisters: Eva Rasch of Topeka, June Ashley of Denison, Mary Robinson of Denison, and Nelda McMillan of Denison; 6 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Mon., July 30, 2007, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence. Interment will be in Valley Falls Cemetery. Elba will lie in state after 12:00 noon, Sunday, at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 PM.
