H. Hansen, 94, of Topeka, passed away Monday, September 2, 2024.
Elaine was the oldest of six children born to Albert and Henrietta McBride of Danbury, Iowa.
Raised on a farm, she moved to Omaha, Nebraska to continue her education. She returned to Mapleton, Iowa to marry Darrel Hesse in 1950. After this marriage dissolved, Elaine raised her five children alone.
She worked at Floyd Valley Packing House as a butcher for years. There she met and married her second husband, Floyd Hansen, who was later killed in a hunting accident.
In her middle years, she returned to school to become a massage therapist, later she opened her own shop in Le Mars, Iowa.
She was an active member of the New Life Christian Church in South Sioux City, Nebraska and later New Light Christian Church in the Oakland area of Topeka.
Elaine was preceded in death by four of her five children, Raymond Hesse, Dennis Hesse, Jeanne Hesse, and Joanne Wilandt as well as her husband, Floyd Hansen, sister Rita Bogart, nephew Mark Bogart, and special friend Pete Hunter and brother in law, Carl Rosauer.
She leaves behind her grieving family, Judy Matthews; six grandchildren; many great grandchildren and nieces and nephews; sisters, Alberta McBride, Verna Rosauer and Irene and brother in law, Mike Zavala.
Cremation is planned. She will be interred at Carbondale Cemetery with her children.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the helpers from hospice, Interim Health Care and the wonderful day to day caregivers at Autumn Hope Plus in her final years.
