Elaine Kay Clark Frisbie was born June 26, 1941 in Topeka, KS. She was the daughter of Rollin and Elnora Clark of Meriden, KS and grew up on the Clark family farm with her sister Gloria and brother Jimmie.
She attended Meriden High School (now Jeff West), graduating in 1959, then attended Kansas State University, where she was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority. On February 12, 1961, she married Thomas W. Frisbie at the Grantville United Methodist Church, where she remained a member throughout her life. Together, they raised their four daughters - Rachelle, Cheryl, Diana, and Leisa - on the Frisbie family farm in Grantville, KS. Elaine’s beloved husband, Tom, preceded her in death in 1998.
Elaine was involved in 4-H from a young age, and continued the tradition by sharing her love of sewing and baking with her children and grandchildren. Some of her fondest memories were spending time with them, preparing for the 4-H fair each year. Her selfless devotion to her family was her life’s work and greatest legacy.
She will be remembered by her family and friends for her love of music, especially Elvis, Paul McCartney and the Beach Boys, her enjoyment of decorating and antiques, her warm heart, her laugh that could light up a room, her quick wit, and her legendary chocolate cake.
An active member of the community, Elaine served as Sexton of the Grantville Cemetery Association from 1998 until her death, a responsibility she remained committed to until the very end. In addition to her duties as a farm wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she also spent time working for the Kansas State Highway Patrol as a Capitol Guard, a role she took great pride in.
Survivors include her daughter Rachelle K. Turpin and husband Mark of Grantville, their children Ashley, Nathan, Nathan’s son Kamdyn, and Thomas John and his fiancée Kailey; daughter Cheryl Frisbie of Lawrence, her daughter Samantha Frisbie, Samantha’s son Auguste Pillatzke; daughter Diana Frisbie and her wife Karen Glotzbach of Grantville, their children Joshua Glotzbach and his wife Sara Glotzbach, Megan Smith, and Tricia Neighbors; Joshua’s children Layla Glotzbach and Cyrus Glotzbach, Megan’s son Liam Smith; Tricia’s children Elijah Neighbors, Zairean Neighbors, Benjamen Woods, and Truman Woods; daughter Leisa Frisbie of Grantville and her children Alexander Gale and Lauren Gale.
