Edward Richard Wentworth, 84, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2012.
He was born August 4, 1927 in Topeka, KS, the son of Earl V. and Lillian (Yungeberg) Wentworth. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II.
Mr. Wentworth was an electrician for the Federal Government and later for Conrad Electric Company in Topeka until retiring.
He was a member of the Albert Neese Masonic Lodge # 248, A.F. & A.M., Arab Shrine, Scottish Rite and Tin Can Sailors of the U.S. Navy.
Ed married Barbara L. Hoover on March 10, 1950. She preceded him in death on October 31, 2006. Survivors include sister, Marie L. McMinn, Kansas City, MO., several nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces and cousins in Kansas, Oklahoma,Texas, and California.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Betty J. Gates;a brother, Earl Wentworth, Jr.; and a nephew, Eric Wentworth and a great-nephew, Ryan Wentworth.
A memorial ceremony will be 1 p.m., Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka.
Private inurnment will be at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Topeka Jazz Workshop or to the charity of the donor's choice.
